If you have further problems, contact us via our [Support](/support/support). ## Overview of Apps Loom.ai has the following applications - LoomieLive and Loomie. ### LoomieLive [LoomieLive](https://apps.loomai.com/www.loomai.com/loomielive) is a desktop application that allows you to have video calls as an avatar. It solves the following videoconferencing issues: * Privacy * Avoid constantly staring at the camera * Personal appearance * Background appearance * "Zoom fatigue" * Eye gaze matching It works within desktop video conferencing applications, replacing the webcam with our live-stream 3D avatar. The avatar is animated by either audio or video. LoomieLive has several built in avatars and 3D backgrounds. It allows you to edit the appearance, as well as accessorize with different outfits. It works in conjunction with most desktop video conferencing applications. This document covers installation and usage. ## Overview LoomieLive allows you to have video calls as an avatar. It works within desktop video conferencing applications, replacing the webcam with our avatar. LoomieLive comes with several standard avatars. Personalized avatars can be brought in from our "Loomie” mobile app, available on iOS and Android. In Loomie, you can create and edit personalized avatars. If you use the same login method with both applications, your LoomieLive application will include your Loomie avatars - available on iOS and Android. # Installation and Setup Important information to get started {% hint style="info" %} Thanks to your feedback, we are creating new builds daily. This documentation is based on our 2.1.64 (MacOS and Windows 10) builds. {% endhint %} ## Installation 1. Download the LoomieLive app from: [www.loomai.com/loomielive](https://www.loomai.com/loomielive) 2. Follow the install instructions ### Starting LoomieLive 1. MAC: From Apple’s Menu Bar (top right corner), select the LoomieLive icon.\ WINDOWS: from the Windows desktop, double-click the installed shortcut. 2. It is free on iOS and Android.** [**https://loomai.com/loomies**](https://loomai.com/loomies) {% endhint %} ### **Selecting Audio** **In LoomieLive**, select ">" next the microphone icon to select the microphone that you’d like to speak into. Ideally this is your headset microphone. This allows your avatar to be driven by audio, without causing it to animate when others are speaking (in the room around you, or from within the chat).** {% endhint %} ### **Verifying the Virtual Camera** Once the LoomieLive Camera has been installed, it should show up in lists of cameras in applications that let you choose a camera.You can go straight to videoconferencing if you wish. The information in Selecting Audio and Selecting Camera is critical. {% endhint %} ### Avatars We provide a selection of avatars in LoomieLive, including standard avatars and “Loomies”. Loomies are personalized avatars created in our free Loomie mobile app, available on [iOS](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/loomie/id1480766333?mt=8) and [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.loomai.loomie). {% hint style="warning" %} **You must use the same login for Loomie and LoomieLive, for your avatars to show up. And if you use "Continue with Google" or "Continue with Apple", you need to sign in same way on Loomie and LoomieLive.** {% endhint %} New Loomies will show up automatically upon opening LoomieLive. Default is 30 FPS. (Choosing this will increase the load on your CPU)\ **Auto-Detect Laughter**: Automatically press the "Laugh" reaction button when laughter is detected in your voice. This is an experimental feature, use with caution.\ **Auto-Gestures** and **Gesture Strength**: Move the Loomie's head and body in small ways when not speaking. Strength determines how much the head moves. ### Backgrounds LoomieLive contains several collections of backgrounds. Each of these 3D backgrounds have unique lighting. Look for this in a future release. By selecting these buttons, you trigger a corresponding avatar animation. They're always "hanging' around. Ideally these are your headphones, such that your Loomie doesn't to lip-sync to the audio of others on the call. {% hint style="info" %} If you don't have headphones, see [this section](/loomielive/no-headset-no-problem). {% endhint %} # Zoom LoomieLive loves Zoom! Ideally these are your headphones, such that your Loomie doesn't to lip-sync to the audio of others on the call. {% hint style="info" %} If you don't have headphones, see [this section](/loomielive/no-headset-no-problem). {% endhint %} # No Headset, No Problem LoomieLive uses audio to drive lipsync of your avatar. Because of this, ideally you wear a headset. But if you don't have a headset, here's how to best to use the software. ## Talk / Listen LoomieLive Talk/Listen button allows you to operate without a headset. If you are having an issue with your avatar lip syncing while others are speaking, this is the non-headset solution. ### Listening While you are listening to others, toggle the "Listen" button. The microphone will turn red, indicating that your avatar cannot hear the other speakers. An indicator will pop-up in LoomieLive window, reconfirming the status. You may encounter this warning when installing the Windows version of LoomieLive (if the "Run Anyway button is not displayed, click the "Show more" link) ![](https://1483586279-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-M53eMlc7GVMFycQCIYg%2F-M9PRhzJQGa2lZU83k24%2F-M9PSIzQP4-3AZOYuAKe%2Finstall-shield.png?alt=media\&token=7ee5be5e-0930-40bc-9e2a-d90607dfdd1b) It is ok to click "Run anyway" to proceed. You can verify that the installer is valid by opening its "Properties" in explorer and checking that the "Digital Signature" of LoomAi Inc. is present. This warning should stop appearing once LoomieLive has a larger installed base. ## Why isn't it working with Zoom on my Mac? Are you running Zoom v5.0.5 or better? Earlier versions do not support LoomieLive's camera. ## Why is it showing a black frame on Windows? **Skype app**: Sorry, we only support Skype Desktop right now! **More than one app at once**: Currently, LoomieLive's camera only drives a single app at a time. ## Why is the camera not showing in MSTeams? Please restart the computer, this sometimes happens on the first use after installation. ## What Operating Systems do you support? MacOS: We currently support MacOS (Catalina, Mojave). Recommended: Mac computers 2015 and newer. Windows 10 (Windows 7 is not supported) ## (Windows) What hardware do you support? We require a 4th-gen or better Intel CPU. We are working to relax this restriction, stay tuned! ## (Windows) When I logged in to get my avatars, it froze. Check to see if you have antivirus software that might be interfering with LoomieLive's network connection. ## Why is my avatar's mouth moving when others speak? LoomieLive's avatars lip-sync to audio. This will happen if the microphone used in LoomieLive can hear the speakers used in your VideoConferencing app. In essence, your avatar is "hearing" others speak. To fix this, do one of the following (best to worst): 1. Wear a headset * **LoomieLive Settings**: select your headset's microphone. * **VideoConferencing Settings**: select the headphones "speaker". * Now you will hear others, but your avatar (LoomieLive) will only hear you. 2. No headset? See [No Headset No Problem](/loomielive/no-headset-no-problem) If the above doesn't resolve the issue, [uninstall](/loomielive/uninstalling) and reinstall with the [latest build](https://download.loomai.com/loomie-live/latest). # Introduction ## For Consumers Loomie is a mobile app to create personalized avatars. These avatars can be used in [LoomieLi](https://loomai.com/loomielive)[e](https://loomai.com/loomielive) for videoconferencing; exported to stickers for Gboard, Whatsapp, or Slack; or exported for VR collaboration in SPACES. ## For Businesses Loomie uses several of Loom.ai's licensable technology, including: * AvatarSDK: creating an avatar from a selfie * StyleSDK: accessorizing the avatar with clothing, glasses, etc. * VideoSDK: real-time tracking of the avatar * RenderSDK: real-time rendering For more information, see our [Products page](https://loomai.com/product). For licensing information, contact # Installation ## Download Loomie is on both [iOS](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/loomie/id1480766333?mt=8) and [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.loomai.loomie). ## Versions Support We support Android back to 9.0 (Pie). We do not (currently) support tablets. We support iOS 13.0, minimum iPhone 6S, 6S Plus and iPhone SE # Login ## Login Follow login instructions. If you use LoomieLive, *use the same login and password*. {% hint style="success" %} By using the same login and password as LoomieLive, your avatars will automatically show up in LoomieLive (after restart or refresh). {% endhint %} # Avatar Creation ## Creating an Avatar 1. Go into Create Mode (top of app) 2. Click on the Create button (bottom left) 3. Follow important instructions on taking selfie, in particular 1. neutral expression (no smile) 2. even lighting (no shadows) 3. face the camera 4. don't block your facial features (hair, glasses, etc.) 4. Position your face inside the outline 5. Choose from one of the 4 avatars that most resembles you. 1. It is easy to edit the avatars (change hairstyle, remove/add glasses/change clothing) 2. If you prefer, you can hit the "infinity" icon to generate 4 more avatars, or "X" to take another photo. ## Deleting an Avatar 1. Go to Create Mode (top of app) 2. On the bottom, click and hold on the avatar you want to delete until it shows an "x" marker 3. Click on the "x" and the avatar will be deleted. You will see that the avatar bar will reflect the deletion. # FAQ / Troubleshooting ## How do I make my Loomie have my freckles/wrinkles/etc? You can slide the Texture Control to the right to include more of the texture (wrinkles, freckles, etc.) from your face. (Android) You'll need to install the GBoard app and, in your messaging app, set it as the input keyboard(consult your messaging app for details).
